The Horse Show
Extension Exhibition at the Lyric Theatre - March to April 2017
This group show features eleven large scale paintings by artists who have used the image or symbolism of the horse in their expression. This project is an outreach to compliment and to draw interest to the Bruce Anderson exhibitions presented at this same period at the AGSC main gallery. As a title “The Horse Show” plays with the common occurrence of a show of horses in western North American and to an ongoing interest in the horse as an important animal and symbol in our culture. Artworks borrowed from regional artists and drawn from the AGSC permanent collections will be used in this project. The permanent Collection works include two works by Bruce Anderson which date to the early 1990s and provide an historical context for the new work exhibitions at AGSC. Also included are artworks by Stephanie Kaduck, Ken Christopher, and William Philpott.
A Personal Place by Nicole Rewart
Extension Exhibition at the Lyric Theatre - September to October 2017
This exhibition presents a series of landscape paintings by Swift Current Artist Nicole Rewart. The landscape images represent for the artist personal storied places of association with joyful times and times of loss and sorrow. For viewing audiences these same places mean something different – something personal to them.
