The Southwest Open:
Southwest Saskatchewan Open Exhibition of Arts and Craft
Presented by Swift Current Public Arts Services at the newly formed
West Wing Gallery
in the Airmen’s Barracks at Doc’s Town, Swift Current,
from July 9 to September 5, 2011
Submission Information
- Please read carefully
The Southwest Open is organized by SC Public Arts Services and Swift Current Allied Arts Council. The adjudication is organized with the assistance of the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC).
The Southwest Open exhibition of arts & craft is meant to accommodate non-professional Southwest Saskatchewan artists and to have their new work shown in a public gallery.
Artists have the opportunity to discuss their arts and craft work with one of the guest adjudicators from the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils at the end of the exhibition. The objective of the adjudication process is to help artists further develop their work.
You have two options:
Option #1: You may submit artwork for The Southwest Open exhibition and the adjudication
or
Option #2: You may submit artwork for adjudication only.If the arts and craft works you want to submit this year have been in previous exhibitions at Art Gallery of Swift Current, they are not eligible for The Southwest Open exhibition but they are still eligible for adjudication. Regardless of your option you have the same opportunity to meet with the adjudicators from OSAC.
The adjudicators will choose the works of three artists to move forward in the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils selection process. The works may be chosen to tour provincially as part of the OSAC traveling exhibition program, "On the Move".
If you are presenting your artwork in professionally curated exhibitions or invitational shows such as the annual AGSC Summer Salon, then The Southwest Open is not for you. Please contact the Art Gallery of Swift Current Curator for clarification regarding this or any other concern you may have.
Thank you for your interest and participation.
