Boundary States: The place between what is recognized and what is experienced
June 4 to July 2, 2005

The exhibition “boundary states” presents recent work artist Garry Berteig. Garry is an accomplished western Canadian artist originally from the Swift Current area. A professional artist for the past forty years, for the past ten years Garry Berteig also has worked as a professor and is currently head of the fine arts department at Keyano College in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Paintings by this well known artist grace the walls of many business offices, private homes, and public collections across Canada and internationally. This exhibition shows a series of watercolour and ink on paper paintings, drawn from explorations and discoveries in the inspirational boreal forests of northern Canada and Europe. This is the fifth exhibition in Art Gallery of Swift Current’s Homecoming Arts Series, celebrating Saskatchewan’s Centennial.

High Fibre
April 30 to May 26, 2005

Everyone is invited to attend a Coffeehouse Evening for exhibition “High Fibre” on Saturday evening, May 7 at Art Gallery of Swift Current. The doors will open at 6:30 pm. with musical entertainment by folk musician Jack Walton at 7:00 pm. Walk and Talk tour with exhibition artists will begin promptly at 7:30 pm. The “High Fibre Vegetarian Buffet” will compliment the evening.

High Fibre is an exhibition of fine craft including weaving, felting, quilting, needle arts, sculpture, dolls, bears and kites. The fourth exhibition in the Homecoming Arts Series celebrating Saskatchewan’s Centennial, this show presents the work of craftspeople of the Swift Current area.

Everyone is welcome and admission is free to the Coffeehouse Evening for “High Fibre” on Saturday, May 7 at Art Gallery of Swift Current in the R.C. Dahl Centre at 411 Herbert Street East. Art in the Family
February 19 to March 20, 2005

Art Gallery of Swift Current presents "Art in the Family" exhibition from February 19 to March 20, 2005. There will be a Coffeehouse Evening to celebrate this exhibition which will include a "walk and talk" tour with the visual artists and musical performances by the "Family Band" on Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 pm. As always this exhibition and coffeehouse event are free and everyone is welcome.

Steininger - Wiebe - Legault
January 13 - February 9, 2005

An exhibition titled Steininger - Wiebe - Legault is being presented by Art Gallery of Swift Current from January 13 to February 9, 2005, with a special public event Saturday evening January 22.

Swift Current hometown boys, Christopher Steininger, Stephan Wiebe and Joël Legault are three young professional artists at the beginning of their art careers.

This exhibition and event will launch Art Gallery of Swift Current's "Homecoming Arts Series" celebrating Saskatchewan's Centennial. AGSC will present more than ten special exhibitions in 2005 featuring professional and amateur visual artists originating from Swift Current.

Aerial Farm Photography
November 27, 2004 - January 7, 2005

This show samples aerial photographs shot by entrepreneurs, researchers, cartographers and contemporary artists.
- H.D. Howdy McPhail of North Battleford shows the farming communities of west central Saskatchewan during the 1950s.
- Shelley Sopher's The Garden, is a detailed and appreciative study of indigenous prairie flora.
- Curator and archivist Brock V. Silversides explores the unexpected beauty of vertical aerial photographs, a form typically associated with cartography.
- Contemporary artist Joe Fafard draws on the land itself; Darlene Kalynka explores generational and gender dilemmas of the family farm; and Michael Maranda's abstracted landscapes and prose together present a historical riddle.
